This is a story of how the fox got its cry ‘Hukka Hua.’ When a tiger gets jittery seeing Santhal hunters in a forest, she runs to a Woodcutter for refuge. The woodcutter helps the tiger hide by giving her a sack to hide into. But once out free, the tiger resolves to eat the woodcutter. A fox walking by is called up to resolve the issue. Intelligent as foxes are, he states that the first step in deciding whether the tiger should devour the woodcutter who saved her would be to ask the tiger to walk back into the sack where she was hid by the woodcutter. As soon as the tiger does that, the woodcutter ties up the bag and flings it far away. Relieved at being safe, the woodcutter thanks the fox and promises to gift him a ‘Hookah.’ But the woodcutter never returns. So the foxes as we see them now are still waiting and crying away asking the woodcutter-‘Hukaah Kya Huwa?’ ‘Hukkah Kya Huwa?’
